FAQ
Questions we get asked
How much does recovery cost?
A car within five miles is £60 and a van is £100. Beyond five miles it’s £2 per mile, or £3 during peak collection windows. After 20:00 the job carries a 30% surcharge. Everything is listed on the pricing page and you can work out your own job on the quote page.
Do you offer emergency recovery in North Lanarkshire?
Yes, around the clock. North Lanarkshire and Glasgow are where we get to fastest — we’re based in Cleland, between Motherwell and Wishaw.
What if the car has no key, or the wheels are locked?
Both are common and both are handled. They’re harder to load, so they carry a published surcharge: £60 for no key and £30 for locked or blocked wheels. An automatic that won’t select neutral is £60. You’ll be told before we come out, not after.
Do I pay before or after?
A 30% deposit secures the slot and the balance is due once the vehicle is where it needs to be. Nothing is charged from the website — we confirm the final figure by phone first.
Is my vehicle insured while you have it?
Yes, under goods-in-transit and road risk cover. Ask for the certificate before we load and we’ll send it over.
Can you collect vehicles from UK auctions?
Yes, from the major groups and from smaller independent sales. Send the lot number and release paperwork and we’ll book the collection window with the site directly. Tell us if it’s a non-runner when you book.
Do you export cars from the UK to Europe?
Yes — scheduled runs, with a strong focus on Bulgaria and the wider Balkans. Since Brexit that’s an import at the far end, so there are customs formalities and registration requirements. We handle the documentation as part of the job.
Do you pay cash for scrap cars?
No, and nobody legally can. Cash payment for scrap metal has been illegal in Scotland since 2016. We pay by bank transfer and notify the DVLA that you’re no longer the keeper, which matters — until they’re told, the vehicle is still legally yours.
Where are you based?
Biggar Rd, Industrial Estate Unit 23M, Cleland, Motherwell ML1 5PB. Ring before coming down, since the trucks are usually out.
Question not answered here?
Ring and ask. We’d rather spend two minutes on the phone than have you guess.
